Bio:

alt NEED a Projectionist? Please, drop me a line! alt

"To be, or not to be, 'A Model Railroader?'" THAT is the question...since childhood.

OK, I'm no William Shakespeare...just looking at my Profile Photo surely gave that thought.

[The story behind my Profile Photo: My co-worker, Iris, would take dozens of photos on the job when she could (including photos of co-workers), for her scrapbook. The movie theatre was set to close in April 2008 and meet the 'wrecking ball' soon after. As a train buff, I told her "I will bring in some model trains and my 2 Japanese Train Magazines (I recently received) one morning...when you have your camera." I wanted new photos on my MySpace page, anyway. alt

On THIS morning, some staff and I arrived very early at work, Iris entered the projection booth with her camera. She took a few photos as I took out what train stuff I had. When Iris saw me handling the locomotive (the one in my hand) - she told me to hold it out/look at it. When I saw this photo among others - "Priceless!" An interesting tidbit for what it is worth: The model locomotive (HO/OO Scale if you are wondering) in my left hand -  the real thing would be seen in Europe. William Shakespeare is European...]

Hi. Thank you for stopping by. If you live in/around the Boston Area, or find my profile interesting, let's connect.

I'm 6th Generation Black American. Born, raised and still residing in Boston. The Birthplace for America's FIRST Subway - part of the reason why I love trains.  alt

Parttime Producer at a local Radio Station.

I have run Films, working as Movie Projectionist (Mostly Full Time) in Single and Multiplexes. AND, Screening Room for VIP/CEO's.

Licensed since 1990. 21+ Years experience with Film/Digital Projectors.

Corporate Greed pushed me out of the Movie Theatre: Wage Freeze, Hours reduced, Pay cut. Laid-off. =(

As you can imagine, I look forward to the Weymouth & Plymouth Soundstage Projects!

I go by my 'screen name' Simon Mitchell. My 'Birth Name': Norman M Simpson (no relation to OJ).

LONG before that...if it helps: I've worked briefly with BNN (Cable TV's "Boston Neighborhood Network") behind the camera in the mid 1980's (Camera Operator, Video Tape Operator & Floor Manager - Including Cue Cards). As much as I enjoyed working productions for BNN - there are 'unknown/unclear reasons why I was often passed over' for more involvement with BNN.

Some College. Outgoing personality. I'm so patient; I often stay for the 'End Credits' (One reason: Childhood).

I Read, Write & Speak (Proper) English (Sorry. I don't have the 'Boston Accent'). No profanity use, non-smoker, non-drinker, and non-user of drugs. I’m decent and very hard working. LOVE to draw. I’m VERY Outspoken…minus the Profanity. I DID say 'no profanity use'.

How outspoken am I? "Single Payer Healthcare". Not that "buy insurance you can afford". It's JUNK the corporates throw at us to rip us off. I'm interested in "Single Payer Healthcare". HR 676. Google it. All the answers are there.

Can read from a Teleprompter.

I NEVER: Smoked or did Drugs. I Tasted Beer & Coffee, once. =P I was done.

Hot Chocolate, Orange Juice and other fruit Juices became my 'beverages of choice'. As did Root Beer, Ginger Ale, Sprite......Red Bull.

As my 'bars of choice': Chocolate, Health & Sushi. I Still know how to use chopsticks from my Childhood.

I'm NOT the kind to 'have a beer/drink....afterwards'. I keep it clean as "a positive role model" (are you reading this, Kanye West?).

Many say I look young for my age (Blame that on Good Genes/Good Habits).

I worked in my First Film as a Background Actor in "Zookeeper". It was Monday October 5th, 2009 in Somerville. All I had to do was "walk out of the Barber Shop, turn left and walk until I hear 'CUT!'' There were 2 takes. And I think I messed up big time in the First Take - I 'thought I heard' action and I walked. The 2nd take....this time I heard it.

Overall, I had a good time and can't wait to do more.

Don't let my Profile Photo fool you; I REALLY have been 'Grossly Underpaid in the Projectionist Trade'. I never owned a car for that very reason. I have the Driver License. Go figure. Sigh. alt

Other Interests: Movies. Mostly Family/Kid Friendly. Comedy. Science Fiction. Some Action/Adventure.

Music. Country, Movie Soundtracks, Jazz, Classical, Pop and Techno. You will never find "Parental Advisory" in my music collection.

Other Cultures. I'm fascinated with the lifestyles in other countries. The food. The music. How their lifestyles compare to ours (I envy most of them - I admit it).

Japan. China. North/South Korea. Thailand. Vietnam. France. England. Scotland. Italy....the list goes on to just visit them and ride the rails. Try the food.

I LOVE MySpace & Facebook.

Thanks to my Parents teaching me to listen (credit goes mostly to my Dad) I became a news junkie. CNN and local FOX25 News are my faves.

Cartoons. Bugs Bunny is My #1 Followed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the 2007 film was just Awesome)!

Technical Jargon and Photography keeps my mind going, too. As does healthy eating.

And, of course....Real/Model Trains. For the real thing: It runs in the family, literally! My Grandfather worked as a Porter. My dad introduced me to the hobby when I was little. I got my wish to introduce my Niece to the hobby - at 9 months! altalt

I fell in love with the Shinkansen (AKA "The Bullet Train" in Japan), when I saw pictures of it in my childhood. SInce then, fast trains like the TGV in France fascinated me. Even abandoned trains & tunnels (never visited those) are just as eye catching.

Was that too much? alt
